Mumbai, April 17: In the film industry, a name holds significant importance. Often, a single name can define an artist’s entire identity and secure a special place in the hearts of audiences. This is the story of actress Shabana Raza, who is still fondly remembered as ‘Neha.’ Interestingly, this name was given to her after she entered the film industry, and it gradually became her true identity.
Shabana Raza was born on April 18, 1975, into a modest family and completed her education in Delhi. Initially, she had no aspirations of joining the film industry, but fate had other plans for her. One day, she was offered a chance to work in films, which she initially declined. However, after some persuasion from her family, she agreed.
The turning point in her life came in 1998 when she made her Bollywood debut with the film ‘Karib,’ directed by Vidhu Vinod Chopra. In this film, her character was named ‘Neha,’ and the director advised her to adopt this name. Over time, the name became so popular that Shabana Raza was recognized more by ‘Neha’ than her original name.
In ‘Karib,’ she starred alongside Bobby Deol, and her simplicity and innocence won the audience’s hearts. Following this, Neha worked with Ajay Devgn in ‘Hogi Pyaar Ki Jeet,’ which was a success and further solidified her identity. She also appeared with Hrithik Roshan in ‘Fiza’ and captivated audiences with her performances in several films, including ‘Rahul’ and ‘Aatma.’
However, her career did not last long. Gradually, she began to distance herself from films and ultimately stepped away from the screen after ‘Acid Factory’ in 2009.
On the personal front, Shabana Raza married Manoj Bajpayee in 2006. Their friendship blossomed into love, and after several years of understanding each other, they decided to tie the knot. After marriage, Neha prioritized her family and chose to step back from the film industry.
