Chennai, May 10: After taking the oath as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Joseph Vijay Chandrasekhar addressed the current state of the region. He highlighted that the previous government left behind a debt of nearly ₹10 lakh crore.
Chief Minister Vijay stated that the treasury was completely drained before leaving office. In such challenging circumstances, he has accepted this responsibility. His first step will be to assess the actual situation and present everything transparently through a white paper report.
He emphasized that if he needs to meet anyone in Tamil Nadu, he will do so openly and not behind closed doors. “Everything I do will be transparent,” he assured.
Vijay expressed hope for some time to fulfill his commitments, asking for the public’s cooperation and patience as he works towards his promises. He assured that women’s safety will remain a top priority. Starting today, he will take all necessary measures to control drug culture and improve law and order in the state.
He stated, “All eight crore people of Tamil Nadu are my own. My first priorities will be to enhance education, healthcare, roads, and drinking water facilities.”
Vijay pledged not to misuse public funds, asserting that he will neither engage in nor allow any wrongdoing, regardless of who it involves.
He shared a personal note, saying, “I greet everyone who holds a place in my heart. Throughout my journey in cinema, I have always aimed to work hard. As the son of a common assistant director, I understand the meaning of struggle.”
Vijay expressed his deep connection with the people, stating, “I feel like one of you, like a family member, a brother, or a son. You have embraced me warmly in the cinema industry.”
He concluded by thanking the public for their support, acknowledging the struggles faced along the way, and expressing gratitude for the position he has attained.
