Chennai, March 10: The Class 10 board examinations under the Tamil Nadu state board are set to commence on Wednesday. This year, over 900,000 students will participate in these exams. According to the state’s school education department, the exams will be held from March 11 to April 6.
On the first day of the exams, students will write the language paper, which includes Tamil and other language subjects.
The school education department has made extensive preparations to ensure that the exams are conducted peacefully and fairly. A total of 909,397 candidates will take the exams, which will be held across 4,219 examination centers. This includes 882,806 students from 12,467 schools, 26,196 private candidates, and 395 inmates.
According to the department, 12,292 students will write the exams with the help of a scribe. To oversee the examination process, 49,542 teachers have been appointed as room invigilators.
To prevent cheating and other irregularities, 4,954 fixed and flying squads have been deployed across the state. Additionally, special monitoring teams, comprising district collectors, chief educational officers, and revenue department officials, will keep an eye on the examination process.
Strict measures have also been implemented to secure examination materials. Officials have stated that armed police forces will be stationed at 300 question paper storage centers 24/7 to ensure their safety.
To ensure students face no difficulties during the exams, all centers will provide essential facilities, including drinking water, adequate seating arrangements, electricity, ventilation, lighting, and restrooms.
Strict guidelines have been issued for both students and examiners. The use of mobile phones or any electronic devices in the examination hall is strictly prohibited.
Students are permitted to write answers only with blue or black ink pens. The use of colored pens or pencils is not allowed.
Furthermore, students have been instructed not to write any codes, names, or exam numbers on their answer sheets.
Each answer sheet will come with a cover sheet containing the student’s photo, registration number, and subject information. Students must check these details and sign, while invigilators ensure that answer sheets are collected correctly.
Officials have warned that any student found engaging in activities such as cheating, impersonation, misconduct towards exam officials, or tampering with answer sheets will face strict action. Such students could be banned from exams for three years or declared permanently ineligible for public examinations. If any school is found to promote irregularities, its accreditation may also be revoked.
After the exams conclude, the evaluation of answer sheets will begin, with results expected to be announced on May 20.
To assist students and parents, the school education department has established an examination control room, operational from 8 AM to 8 PM on all exam days. For any inquiries, complaints, or assistance, they can contact 94983 83075 or 94983 83076. Additionally, the department’s toll-free helpline 14417 will also be available.
