Tamil Nadu Government Launches Free Counseling Helpline for Students Ahead of 10th Grade Results

Chennai, May 19: The Tamil Nadu government has taken a significant step by issuing an advisory for mental health counseling for students and parents ahead of the Class 10 (SSLC) examination results. The state government encourages the utilization of free mental health counseling services.

The SSLC exam results for the academic year 2025-26 are set to be announced on May 20. In light of this, the Health and Family Welfare Department has stated that trained mental health professionals and doctors will provide continuous tele-counseling support to help maintain students’ emotional balance and mental well-being.

The government has urged students and parents in need of counseling assistance to contact the helpline numbers 14416 or 104, where free support is available.

According to officials, this initiative aims to reduce stress among students during the examination results period and improve their mental health.

It is noteworthy that the Tamil Nadu SSLC Class 10 examination results for 2026 will be released on May 20. The Tamil Nadu Directorate of Government Examinations will announce the SSLC Class 10 results at 9:30 AM. This year, over 800,000 students are eagerly awaiting their results.

After the results are declared, students will be able to view their scores online through the official portal, DigiLocker, and the Umang app.

The Class 10 board examinations in Tamil Nadu were conducted offline from March 11 to April 6 at various examination centers across the state. The exams were held in a single shift from 10 AM to 1 PM.

Last year, the Tamil Nadu board announced the SSLC results on May 16, with a pass percentage of 93.80%. In 2025, a total of 913,036 students participated in the examination, with girls outperforming boys.
