Symphony Shares Plummet to 15-Month Low After Q4 Loss

Mumbai, May 18: Symphony Limited’s shares fell nearly 8% on Monday following a reported loss in the fourth quarter of fiscal year 2026. This decline marks the largest single-day drop since February 2025. The primary reason for this downturn is attributed to losses in the company’s Australian operations.

During midday trading, shares dropped 7.47%, trading at ₹725.5. Over the past month, Symphony’s stock has seen an 11% decrease, and it has recorded a 21% decline so far in 2026. This is a significant drop of approximately 45% from its recent 52-week high of ₹1,309.

In the March quarter, Symphony reported a consolidated net loss of ₹218 crore, a stark contrast to the net profit of ₹79 crore during the same period last fiscal year. The sharp decline in profits is primarily due to operational losses from its Australian subsidiary.

According to an exchange filing by the company, revenue from operations fell by 30.7% year-on-year, totaling ₹338 crore, down from ₹488 crore in the same quarter last year.

Operational performance in the March quarter was also under pressure. EBITDA fell by 53.3%, dropping from ₹107 crore a year ago to ₹50 crore, while the EBITDA margin decreased from 21.9% to 14.8% during the same period.

Symphony recorded a goodwill impairment of ₹173.09 crore related to Climate Holdings Private Limited, formerly known as Symphony AU Private Limited.

The company indicated that the losses stemmed from a combination of declining business performance and profits, alongside management’s failure to achieve expected business targets despite their efforts.

During this quarter, Symphony’s performance was impacted by weather-related challenges, geopolitical uncertainties, and operational issues within its international subsidiaries. However, management noted that the performance of these subsidiaries was relatively better compared to independent operations.
