New Delhi, May 18: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is currently on a visit to Sweden. At Gothenburg Airport, he was welcomed by Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson. During this visit, PM Modi discussed strengthening India-Sweden relations in areas such as trade, investment, innovation, and defense. Sweden has expressed its support for India in the fight against terrorism, for which PM Modi thanked Ulf Kristersson.
The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) stated that both India and Sweden agree that terrorism poses a serious challenge to humanity. PM Modi expressed gratitude for the support received from Sweden following the terrorist attack in Pahalgam last year. He emphasized the ongoing fight against terrorism and its supporters.
Earlier, Prime Minister Modi was honored with Sweden’s prestigious ‘Royal Order of the Polar Star’ Commander Grand Cross award during his visit. This award is one of Sweden’s highest honors, given to foreign nationals and leaders who have made significant contributions globally. The ‘Commander Grand Cross’ is the highest category of this honor, awarded to heads of state and senior dignitaries for their contributions to international diplomacy, cooperation, and strengthening bilateral relations.
With this honor, PM Modi has now received a total of 31 international awards from various governments and institutions, symbolizing India’s growing global influence and PM Modi’s expanded diplomatic reach.
During his visit, PM Modi also held bilateral talks with Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson. The discussions focused on enhancing trade, technology, green transition, innovation, and strategic partnerships.
