Suvendu Adhikari Expresses Gratitude for His Election as BJP Legislative Leader

Kolkata, May 8: Suvendu Adhikari, poised to become the next Chief Minister of West Bengal, was elected as the leader of the BJP legislative party on Friday. In a media interaction, Adhikari expressed his gratitude towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and BJP National President Nitin Gadkari.

Adhikari stated that it was Prime Minister Modi’s blessings that enabled him to be elected as the leader of the legislative party. He emphasized that democracy prevails within the BJP, with all legislators showing their support for him.

Additionally, newly elected legislators from Bengal, who won their seats on BJP tickets, welcomed Adhikari’s decision to become Chief Minister. Newly elected MLA Ashok Dinda remarked that he has closely observed Adhikari since 2021 and knew him even before that. He described Adhikari as a dedicated individual who travels 14-15 hours by road and has fiercely contested against the TMC, defeating Mamata Banerjee twice. Dinda noted that the movements led by Adhikari in the assembly during his tenure as Leader of the Opposition were remarkable. He congratulated Adhikari on his upcoming role as Chief Minister, stating, “Suvendu Dada will lead Bengal forward; I pray to God that under his leadership, Bengal becomes Sonar Bangla.”

Another newly elected MLA, Dibyendu Adhikari, highlighted that the BJP is the world’s largest political party. He mentioned that their National President, Home Minister, and Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Chandra Majhi were sent as representatives. Dilip Ghosh was the first to propose Suvendu Adhikari’s name for Chief Minister, which was later supported by nine members of the house.

Agnimitra Paul noted that given how Suvendu Adhikari has fought, both inside and outside the assembly, and during this election, there could be no better alternative.
