
Ghaziabad, October 1 (Daily Kiran) : A significant breakthrough occurred for the Indirapuram police in Ghaziabad on October 1, 2026, during a routine check. Officers engaged in a gunfight with a suspected snatcher on Pulia Road, resulting in his capture. The suspect sustained injuries and was promptly taken to a hospital for treatment.
According to police reports, the incident unfolded on Wednesday night when a police team was conducting checks on Kanavani Pulia Road. Officers noticed a suspicious individual approaching on a motorcycle. When the police signaled him to stop, the suspect attempted to flee, turning his bike in the opposite direction.
In response to the chase, the suspect opened fire on the police. Officers returned fire in self-defense, injuring the suspect. He was subsequently apprehended at the scene.
The arrested individual has been identified as Munasir, also known as Munajir, a 23-year-old resident of Garima Garden in Sahibabad. He was immediately sent to a nearby hospital for medical care.
Police recovered a .315 bore firearm, a spent cartridge, a live round, a stolen motorcycle, and a piece of yellow metal from the suspect. The motorcycle is believed to have been used in various crimes.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Surya Bali Maurya stated that the arrested man is a notorious snatcher known to operate in the Delhi-NCR region. During interrogation, he made several startling revelations, admitting to committing chain snatchings and mobile thefts while frequently changing scooters and motorcycles.
The suspect has also confessed to being involved in a chain snatching incident that occurred in the Indirapuram area about two weeks ago. However, police emphasized that these claims will be verified through further investigation and evidence.
Police records indicate that Munasir has over 12 criminal cases registered against him in various police stations throughout the Delhi-NCR area, including theft, snatching, and violations of the Arms Act. He has been on the police radar for some time.
