Special Cleanliness and Awareness Campaign at Abhaypur Railway Station

Mumbai, May 11: A special cleanliness and awareness campaign was held on Sunday at Abhaypur Railway Station and its surrounding areas, part of the Jamalpur–Kiul rail section. This initiative aligns with Indian Railways’ commitment to environmental sustainability and the ‘Clean Rail, Clean India’ mission.

The campaign was conducted under the guidance of Manish Kumar Gupta, the Divisional Railway Manager of Malda, and led by Pradeep Das, Senior Divisional Mechanical Engineer, Malda. Local residents actively participated, including Amresh Kumar, the head of Ghosait, and retired professor Saligram Singh, showing their support for this initiative.

Railway staff, the station master of Abhaypur, local council representatives, local administration, and NCC cadets also joined in, reaffirming their collective commitment to a clean, safe, and environmentally sustainable railway environment.

As part of the campaign, extensive cleaning and waste collection activities were conducted in the station premises, along the railway tracks, and at other identified locations near Abhaypur Railway Station, especially in areas where littering was common.

Residents living near the railway tracks were urged not to dispose of household waste near the railway premises. Such actions not only pollute the environment but also impact railway safety, operations, and overall cleanliness.

Awareness campaigns were also conducted in nearby markets and shops, encouraging local shopkeepers and citizens to use dustbins, dispose of waste properly, and adopt cleanliness as a regular civic responsibility.

The Malda division remains committed to promoting environmental awareness and empowering public participation through ongoing cleanliness and awareness campaigns.
