Sonam Raghuvanshi Granted Bail, Family of Deceased Expresses Outrage

Indore, April 29: Sonam Raghuvanshi, the main accused in the Raja Raghuvanshi murder case, was granted bail by a Shillong court on Tuesday. This surprising development in the high-profile case has left many shocked.

Vipin Raghuvanshi, Raja’s brother, confirmed the news of Sonam’s bail. He stated, “After speaking with our lawyer, we learned that when Sonam was arrested by the police in Ghazipur, they did not provide a reason for her arrest. Based on this, the court granted her bail. We will now file an appeal in the High Court to revoke her bail.”

Raja Raghuvanshi’s mother, Uma Raghuvanshi, expressed her disappointment, saying, “We had complete faith in the law, yet Sonam was granted bail. The government should not have released her; she deserves the death penalty. Govind Raghuvanshi is the mastermind behind this entire case. He has bribed everyone and even helped with her bail. If Sonam comes to Indore to apologize, we will not forgive her.”

She questioned how Sonam could receive bail when she is guilty. “Sonam had her husband killed right before her eyes. On what grounds was she granted bail? We were hopeful for justice, but it has not been served. We have requested the Prime Minister to initiate a CBI investigation. Sonam can conspire with anyone, so our family is in danger.”

It is noteworthy that Raja Raghuvanshi and his wife Sonam traveled to Shillong for their honeymoon on May 21, 2025. They went missing after visiting Sohra on May 26. A massive search operation involving police, NDRF, SDRF, and local teams was conducted. Raja’s body was discovered in a deep gorge near the famous Wei Sadong Falls on June 2, 2026, a week later. Sonam, along with Raj Kushwaha and three assailants—Vishal Chauhan, Akash Rajput, and Anand Kurmi—has been accused of Raja’s murder, although all have denied the charges.
