Srinagar, April 24: A lift accident at a hotel in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir, left at least six tourists injured on Friday. All the injured have been admitted to a hospital for treatment.
Officials reported that the incident occurred at the ‘Hotel Arison Luxury’ located in Haiderpora, where the tourists were staying. The group, all residents of Bengaluru, sustained various injuries to their legs and lower bodies due to the lift’s fall.
The injured individuals were later taken to the Bone and Joint Hospital in Barzulla. As per the latest updates, their conditions are reported to be stable. The injured have been identified as Venkatesh (65), D. Mangula (54), Kushala (18), Pankaj (16), Venkatalakshmi (60), and Saubhagya (60).
The cause of the lift failure has not yet been determined, and the hotel management has not released an official statement regarding the incident.
However, this occurrence has raised concerns about safety standards in hotels and tourism-related institutions. Authorities are expected to investigate the malfunction and ascertain whether any negligence was involved. Sources indicate that an inquiry has already been initiated.
It is noteworthy that this year, an early onset of heat in the plains has led to a significant influx of tourists to Kashmir. Currently, the average daytime temperature in the valley hovers around 23 degrees Celsius, providing a pleasant chill in the weather.
