Mumbai, March 14: The history of Indian cinema is rich with remarkable artists and filmmakers who have redefined the industry through their vision, hard work, and creativity. Among these icons is the legendary filmmaker V. Shantaram. A biopic is currently in the works that will depict his life and struggles, with actor Siddhant Chaturvedi set to play the lead role.
During a special event, V. Shantaram’s son, Kiran Shantaram, honored Siddhant and praised him as the perfect choice for the role.
Addressing the audience, Kiran Shantaram expressed, “Creating a biopic about my father’s life is a deeply emotional and proud endeavor. It will provide the new generation with insight into V. Shantaram’s significant contributions to shaping Indian cinema. I am confident that Siddhant Chaturvedi is the ideal choice to portray him.”
He also revealed that the film is scheduled for release on a significant date. The biopic is set to premiere on November 18, 2026, coinciding with V. Shantaram’s 125th birth anniversary.
Kiran Shantaram added, “This film is an effort to commemorate the history of Indian cinema and honor that legacy. My father experimented with films during a time when cinema was still in its infancy. From silent films to talkies and color films, he embraced new technologies and narratives.”
V. Shantaram is regarded as a visionary filmmaker in Indian cinema. He created numerous films that are still considered classics today. His works uniquely blend social issues, music, and art. Notable films such as ‘Do Aankhen Barah Haath,’ ‘Navrang,’ and ‘Jhanak Jhanak Payal Baje’ not only entertained but also conveyed messages of social change. This is why V.
