Ranchi, March 10: In a chilling incident in the Bero police station area of Ranchi district, a woman brutally murdered her boyfriend after he refused to marry her. The crime was committed with the assistance of her brother and sister. The shocking details emerged when police discovered the body of Vijay Kumar Das, a young man who had been missing for ten days, in an abandoned well in Tengaria village.
According to reports, the accused went to extreme lengths to conceal their crime. They tied Vijay’s body to his motorcycle and dumped it in deep water to ensure it would not surface.
Ranchi’s rural Superintendent of Police, Praveen Pushkar, revealed that Vijay Kumar Das worked for a private company and was in a relationship with a woman named Roshni Devi. Roshni had been pressuring him to marry her, but Vijay was evasive. The 29-year-old left home on the night of February 24, 2026, riding a friend’s motorcycle and never returned.
Based on family suspicions, police initiated an investigation that led them to Roshni Devi. Technical analysis and rigorous questioning of Roshni, her sister Seema Devi, and brother Bhoopesh unveiled the entire story behind the murder.
As part of a premeditated plan, Roshni had called Vijay to her newly constructed house in Bero that night. After getting him intoxicated, she, along with her siblings, slit his throat with a knife and then stabbed him in the abdomen, committing a gruesome murder.
To dispose of the bloodied body, they stuffed it into a sack and pushed it into the well along with the motorcycle. Police have since recovered the body and the vehicle, as well as the knife used in the murder, which was seized from Roshni’s home.
