
Dubai, April 21: In the latest ICC Women’s T20 International rankings, Shefali Verma has made a significant leap, moving up two spots. Meanwhile, Indian captain Harmanpreet Kaur is nearing a return to the top 10 after scoring an unbeaten 47 runs in the first T20 match against South Africa.
This change in the T20 rankings comes during the ongoing five-match T20 International series between India and South Africa. Several players from both teams have been rewarded for their recent performances ahead of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, which is set to begin on June 12 in England and Wales.
After a powerful innings of 57 runs off 38 balls in the second T20 match, Shefali Verma has climbed to sixth place in the ICC batting rankings. In two T20 matches, she has scored 91 runs at an impressive strike rate of 156. Smriti Mandhana remains the highest-ranked Indian batter at fourth position.
Harmanpreet Kaur has also gained two spots, now sitting at 11th place. In the first T20 against South Africa, she showcased her batting skills with a strong performance, hitting five fours and a six during her innings of 47 runs. South African captain Laura Wolvaardt scored a remarkable 54 runs off 34 balls in the second T20, maintaining her fifth position in the batting rankings. Annerie Dercksen has jumped 18 places to 33rd, while Sune Luus has risen eight spots to 35th.
In the bowling rankings, Pakistan’s Sadia Iqbal remains the number one bowler in the shortest format of cricket. South Africa’s Nonkululeko Mlaba has climbed five spots to sixth place following a strong start to the series against India. Ayabonga Khaka has moved up eight places to 25th, while Chloe Tryon is now ranked 38th.
India’s spin bowler Shree Chani has advanced four spots to 23rd. In the all-rounders’ list, Maddy Green holds the top position, while Tryon has climbed four places to 11th. The ODI rankings have also seen changes following the first ODI between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. Bangladesh’s Sharmeen Akhtar, rewarded for her impressive 86-run innings, has jumped seven spots to 22nd. Sobhana Mostari has risen eight places to 50th. Among bowlers, Nahida Akhtar is ranked 13th, Rabeya Khan is 20th, and Marufa Akhtar has moved up nine spots to 43rd.
