Bhubaneswar, Mar 12 : At least 22 people including seven police personnel were injured when Chilika MLA Prashant Jagdev on Saturday allegedly ran his vehicle over the crowd present in front of the Banpur block office on Saturday.Khordha Superintendent of Police Alekh Chandra Pahi said all the injured were shifted to the hospital. He said after the incident the irate crowd also seriously injured Prashant Jagdeb .He was admitted to local hospital in Tangi but later shifted to a hospital in Bhubaneswar by the police.The crowd also damaged the vehicle of the MLA who had been suspended from the ruling BJD.The incident took place near the Banpur block office where the election to the chairman of the block was going on and several people had congregated at the block office .BJP General Secretary Pruthiraj Harichandan has strongly condemned the incident and said such MLA should be jailed for his inhuman act.Mr.Harichandan hoped that Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik would strongly act and initiate appropriate action against him.Sources said among the injured , the Banpur IIC and a local were seriously injured and shifted to a hospital in Bhubaneswar.Most of the injured persons , sources said were BJP workers.Details are awaited.
