Kolkata, June 18: The security controversy surrounding West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has sparked significant reactions from various political leaders, including Humayun Kabir, head of the Unnayan Party (AJYUP).
In a conversation with reporters, Kabir stated, “Mamata Banerjee’s situation has reached a point where she is unable to do what she wants. No one anticipated that the Trinamool Congress (TMC) would find itself in such a predicament. It remains to be seen what happens next regarding her security.”
CPI(M) MLA Mo. Mustafizur Rahman commented, “Those involved acted as they deemed appropriate. If they felt it necessary to freeze the accounts, then that is what they must have decided. We have no specific response to this.”
Notably, TMC treasurer Arup Biswas has reportedly written to the HDFC Bank’s Central Plaza branch, demanding an immediate freeze on all accounts of the All India Trinamool Congress (TMC).
Rahman further mentioned that they will review the Governor’s address. If their issues are not included, they will raise them in the assembly. Regarding the yoga program held at Red Road, he remarked that the people of the state are quite discerning.
BJP MLA Sajal Ghosh questioned the uproar over the security matter, stating, “What is the problem? Only the Personal Security Officer (PSO) has been changed. What was so special about the old PSO that this change is being questioned?” On Biswas’s letter, he added, “When there are thousands of crores in the bank account, disputes are bound to arise.”
BJP MLA Rudranil Ghosh asserted, “Her tendency to evade issues proves that her party has weakened. The people of Bengal voted to rid themselves of the TMC. They have committed wrongdoings, and that is why they are running away. Who escapes the law of the land?”
