Second TNTJ member arrested over death threat

Bengaluru, March 25 : The Karnataka Police on Friday arrested another accused from Tamil Nadu in connection with a death threat issued to three Karnataka judges including Chief Justice Ritu Raj Awasti after they upheld the ban on hijab in schools. Jamal Mohammad Usmani was produced before a court which sent him to police custody. The arrest was made based on a FIR registered by Karnataka High Court advocate Sudha Katwa. Earlier, Covai Rahmatullah was taken to Bengaluru from Tamil Nadu by the police. The arrested persons are members of the Tamil Nadu Thowheed Jamaat (TNTJ). Rahmatullah is accused of mentioning a Jharkhand judge being mowed down during morning walk last year. Likewise, the three judges – C J Awasti, Krishna S Dixit and J M Kazi – would be killed, he told a public rally in Madurai held to protest Karnataka High Court verdict. After the death threat, the Karnataka government gave Y-category security to the judges. BDN MR
