Beijing, March 3: The Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) issued a formal statement on Monday regarding the situation in Iran. The statement expressed serious concern from SCO member countries about developments in the Middle East and armed attacks on Iran.
The member states of the SCO deem the use of force unacceptable. They believe that the resolution of the current conflict must adhere to international law and the principles of the United Nations Charter. Dialogue, mutual respect, and consideration of the legitimate interests of all parties involved are seen as the only viable path forward.
The SCO member countries emphasized the need to ensure Iran’s national sovereignty, security, and territorial integrity. They called on all parties to exercise restraint and to immediately halt actions that could exacerbate the situation.
Furthermore, the SCO member states made a strong appeal to the United Nations and its Security Council to take urgent measures against acts that threaten international peace and security. They expressed deep condolences to the families of those killed in the attacks and conveyed their solidarity and support to the Iranian government and people.
