Mumbai, August 14: Sanjay Raut, a Rajya Sabha member from Shiv Sena (UBT), has expressed his support for Congress leader Rahul Gandhi‘s recent ‘joker’ comment directed at the BJP and RSS. Raut also criticized the RSS during his remarks.
Raut made derogatory comments against two senior BJP leaders. He stated that the arrogance of the BJP’s top leadership was shattered by the students protesting at Jantar Mantar.
He raised questions about the achievements of the country under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah. Raut challenged the RSS, saying, “If the RSS considers itself a patriotic organization, Mohan Bhagwat should hold a press conference in Delhi and expose PM Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah.” He emphasized that it is the responsibility of the RSS chief to voice concerns about the current situation in the country.
Previously, Rahul Gandhi had referred to the BJP and RSS as ‘jokers,’ which has intensified political debates. In a sarcastic tone, Gandhi remarked that PM Modi’s hugs are akin to foreign policy. Raut responded, stating, “This is PM Modi’s foreign policy, not the country’s. The nation’s foreign policy has been nonexistent for the past decade.” He humorously noted that during Modi’s visits abroad, some foreign leaders appeared to be left breathless.
Additionally, Raut commented on the recent announcement in Uttar Pradesh to grant women ₹50 lakh, suggesting it was merely a tactic ahead of the upcoming assembly elections. He recalled similar instances in Bihar and Maharashtra, where financial incentives were offered to women before elections, alleging that these moves are politically motivated.
Following Raut’s statements, discussions have intensified in political circles. The BJP has yet to respond officially to Raut’s allegations.
