New Delhi, April 26: The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has taken a significant step by appointing Sanjay Jamuar as the first Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Delhi Metro International Limited (DMIL).
DMIL has been established with government support to manage metro projects and operations outside Delhi, both in other Indian cities and internationally.
The primary role of DMIL will be to provide advisory services for metro and transit-related projects. The organization will assist various agencies and financial institutions in developing long-term plans, improving existing systems, and launching new projects. DMIL will leverage DMRC’s extensive experience and expertise for these initiatives.
DMRC has already played a crucial role in developing metro systems in several cities across the country. With the establishment of DMIL, it aims to expand its operational scope further.
Sanjay Jamuar is a former Indian Railway Traffic Service (IRTS) officer with extensive experience working in Indian Railways, DMRC, and internationally in the UK, USA, France, the Middle East, and Europe. He holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Strategic Leadership from Warwick Business School and has conducted research on transport economics at Leeds University.
Interestingly, when he joined DMRC in 1998, he was the first Operations and Maintenance (O&M) employee, making his return feel like a ‘homecoming.’
Currently, DMRC is involved as a consultant in the Dhaka Metro project in Bangladesh. It also manages O&M contracts for metro projects in Chennai, Mumbai, and Patna, and has undertaken metro construction work in Mumbai, Jaipur, and Patna.
With the formation of DMIL and its new leadership, DMRC is expected to strengthen its global presence more rapidly.
