Srinagar, August 1: The Samba police in Jammu and Kashmir intensified their crackdown on drug trafficking and sales, achieving a significant success on Saturday. They arrested a drug trafficker in the Ramgarh police station area and seized approximately 30.42 grams of a substance resembling heroin.
The operation was based on credible information, leading a team from the Ramgarh police station to set up a checkpoint on the Rakh Rara link road for vehicle inspections. During this process, they stopped a car traveling from Jakh to Rara. A search revealed about 30.42 grams of a substance resembling heroin in the possession of the driver.
The arrested individual has been identified as Vinod Kumar, a resident of Ambaran in the Akhnoor tehsil of Jammu district. Along with the drugs, the police seized the vehicle as well. An FIR has been registered at the Ramgarh police station under various sections of the law. The police are investigating further to identify connections related to the drug network.
This operation is part of the Samba police’s anti-drug campaign aimed at dismantling drug networks and addressing the drug problem in the district.
Additionally, the SSP of Samba has urged the public to actively participate in the anti-drug campaign by providing reliable information about drug trafficking or suspicious activities to the nearest police station. He assured that the identities of informants would be kept strictly confidential.
