Russia preparing fresh attacks in east: Zelenskyy

Kyiv, March 31 : Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Thursday shared his doubts on negotiations with Russia and said that Ukraine is bracing for new wave of attacks in the eastern breakaway region of Donbas. Speaking in his latest video message, the President said, “Yes we have negotiations process but they’re only words, without anything concrete. “There are other words about alleged pullback of Russian troops from Kyiv and Chernihiv, and reduction of activities of the occupiers in these territories. This is not a retreat, this is the result of the work of our defenders, who pushed them back.” He also said that the Russian troops are building their forces in the breakaway Donbas region for a new wave of attacks. The Guardian quoted him as saying that his government was instead seeing “a build-up of Russian forces for new strikes on the Donbas and we are preparing for that”. On Wednesday, leader of the Donetsk People’s Republic Denis Pushilin said the offensive operations were intensifying. Earlier, Russia had claimed that its troops would be withdrawing from some areas and instead would focus on “liberating” the Donbas region. Despite their claims, the Russian forces have continued its shellings in Ukraine’s Chernihiv and parts of Kyiv. RNJ
