New Delhi, August 25: The recent surge in tea prices has drawn sharp criticism from Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut, who also commented on Kangana Ranaut’s statements and the Marathi language controversy.
In a conversation with reporters, Raut targeted the BJP over the escalating costs of tea. He stated, “The price of tea has reached 15 rupees, while in upscale hotels, it costs between 200 to 300 rupees. Our lives began with tea priced at 50 paise.” He sarcastically added, “Now the BJP will say that drinking tea is a crime, an act of treason. They might issue orders in the name of patriotism. They will drink ethanol themselves, while the common man struggles to afford a cup of tea, as they sip on government-subsidized tea.”
Regarding Kangana Ranaut’s recent remarks aimed at Kriti Sanon and Taapsee Pannu, Raut questioned, “Why do you take Kangana Ranaut so seriously? She shouldn’t be given this much importance. These blind followers should ask her why tea has become so expensive. The sugarcane used for making sugar has been diverted to ethanol production.”
On the topic of the Marathi language in Maharashtra, Raut emphasized the need to utilize the rights granted by the Constitution. He stated, “Whether in Maharashtra or Bengal, local languages should be used in corporate settings. The national language should be Hindi. If English is a sign of colonialism, then we should communicate in Hindi. The Supreme Court and bureaucrats should write and speak in Hindi. Who has stopped them from responding in Hindi?”
Recently, Raut also addressed a statement made by Akhilesh Yadav, asserting, “Akhilesh didn’t say anything wrong. There is a law here and in every state that local languages should be spoken. This law should apply to everyone. Those in corporate positions or offices should also speak Marathi. They should be required to do so. People in every state should take pride in speaking their local language with dignity.”
