Dehradun, May 18: The Char Dham Yatra is currently underway, with Uttarakhand’s Tourism Minister Satpal Maharaj announcing a significant influx of pilgrims. The total number of devotees visiting the four sacred shrines has reached 1,563,672.
Maharaj noted that a total of 3,658,631 pilgrims have registered for the pilgrimage through both online and offline channels. He emphasized that improvements are continuously being made to address any issues that arise. The Badrinath and Kedarnath temple committees are fully responsible for managing the pilgrimage. “Our aim is to ensure a simple and smooth journey,” he stated.
Additionally, the minister revealed that pilgrims are covered by an insurance scheme worth 10 crores, facilitated through the Human Upliftment Service Committee. The insurance premium amounts to ₹367,995.
Cabinet Minister Bharat Chaudhary commented on the Char Dham Yatra, stating that it is progressing exceptionally well. He noted that a large number of pilgrims from both India and abroad are participating in the pilgrimage. According to Chaudhary, a new record in terms of the number of pilgrims is likely to be set. Facilities have been arranged to ensure that no pilgrim faces difficulties along the journey.
It is noteworthy that the Char Dham Yatra is witnessing a remarkable turnout. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, this year’s pilgrimage is on track to set historical records. Since its commencement on April 19, over 1.56 million devotees have visited the sacred Himalayan shrines in just 25 days. Officials attribute this unprecedented wave of faith and devotion to improved infrastructure, crowd management, and significant development projects undertaken in Kedarnath as part of Prime Minister Modi’s dream initiative. The once-devastated Kedarnath now stands majestic and spiritual, attracting record numbers of pilgrims.
