Kolkata, May 2: Amidst the electoral atmosphere in West Bengal, re-polling is taking place at 15 polling booths in the Diamond Harbour and Magrahat West assembly constituencies of South 24 Parganas district today. Voting commenced at 7 AM and will continue until 6 PM. Out of the 15 booths, 11 are located in Magrahat West and 4 in Diamond Harbour.
Before the re-polling in Diamond Harbour, voters expressed enthusiasm and confidence. One voter stated, “I woke up at 6 AM today. The arrangements here are quite good; we have no fear. The previous elections were well-managed, and we expect even better this time.”
Another voter remarked, “The voting was fine the first time, but this time the arrangements are even better. We are not facing any issues here. This is an experience we have not seen before.”
Additionally, a voter mentioned, “I will vote first and then go to work. Everything is running smoothly here, and the arrangements are satisfactory.”
One voter recalled issues from the last election, saying, “Last time, there was a malfunction with the machines, which is why re-voting is happening. This time, both security and arrangements are good.”
It is important to note that this re-polling is being conducted on the orders of the Election Commission. The Bharatiya Janata Party had raised allegations of tampering with the EVMs at these polling booths. Taking these complaints seriously, the commission decided to conduct re-voting after an investigation.
All eyes are now on May 4, when the counting of votes will take place, and the election results for West Bengal will be announced.
