RCB Wins Toss Against GT, Opts to Bowl First in IPL 2026 Clash

Bengaluru, April 24: In the 34th match of IPL 2026, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) faces Gujarat Titans (GT) today at the M. Chinnaswamy Cricket Stadium. RCB captain Rajat Patidar won the toss and chose to bowl first.

RCB made one change to their playing XI. Phil Salt is unavailable due to injury, and Jacob Bethel has been included in the final eleven.

After winning the toss, Patidar stated, “We will field first. There is one change in the playing XI. Salt is injured, and Bethel is playing. It’s good that we can assess the wicket and conditions well, and our planning has been solid. It looks like a good wicket for batting, but there’s no grass, which might make it challenging in the first innings.”

Gujarat Titans made two changes to their lineup. Jason Holder is making his debut for GT, while Manav Suthar returns to the team. After losing the toss, captain Gill remarked, “Chasing here is good, but we hope for a strong performance. It’s all about understanding the conditions quickly, making a good start, and laying a solid foundation. In such a big tournament, losses can happen (like against Mumbai Indians), but we’re focusing on the positives. There are two changes in the playing XI. Jason Holder is playing, and Manav Suthar is back.”

Under Rajat Patidar’s leadership, RCB has performed impressively in IPL 2026, winning 4 out of 6 matches so far, with 2 losses. Key players like Phil Salt, Virat Kohli, and Rajat Patidar have shown excellent form in batting. Tim David has played a crucial role in propelling RCB to high scores with explosive batting in the final overs. In bowling, Bhuvneshwar Kumar has been a trump card for the team this season, while Krunal Pandya and Suyash Sharma have also delivered strong performances.

On the other hand, Gujarat Titans suffered a significant defeat against Mumbai Indians in their last match, losing by 99 runs. Chasing a target of 200 runs, GT was bowled out for just 100. While Shubman Gill, Sai Sudharsan, and Jos Buttler have performed well, the team’s middle order appears weak. In bowling, Mohammad Siraj and Kagiso Rabada have shown good form, but Rashid Khan has yet to make an impact in IPL 2026.

RCB’s Playing XI: Virat Kohli, Devdutt Padikkal, Rajat Patidar (Captain), Jitesh Sharma (Wicketkeeper), Tim David, Romario Shepherd, Krunal Pandya, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Josh Hazlewood, Suyash Sharma, and Rasikh Salam.

GT’s Playing XI: Sai Sudharsan, Shubman Gill (Captain), Jos Buttler (Wicketkeeper), Washington Sundar, Shahrukh Khan, Jason Holder, Rahul Tewatia, Rashid Khan, Manav Suthar, Kagiso Rabada, and Mohammad Siraj.
