Patna, April 19: In a remarkable discovery, 18 rare manuscripts have been found in an ancient temple in Nawada district, sparking excitement in the region. This significant find was made at an old temple located in Chandipur village, within the Warisaliganj block.
The discovery is part of the central government’s ‘Gyan Bharat Mission,’ which aims to digitize these manuscripts.
According to reports, the manuscripts were recovered from the historic Shri Thakur Radha Raman Lal Ji Temple, built in 1883.
During an inspection led by Deputy Development Commissioner Neelima Sahu on Saturday, a detailed survey revealed 18 handwritten and block-printed manuscripts.
Experts believe these manuscripts are of immense historical and cultural importance, showcasing India’s rich intellectual heritage. All manuscripts have been registered on the official digital platform of ‘Gyan Bharat.’ A district administration official stated that this initiative is a significant step towards preserving India’s cultural heritage and making it accessible for future generations.
The ‘Gyan Bharat Mission’ aims to identify and safeguard ancient manuscripts scattered across the country. Many of these manuscripts are written on palm leaves, birch bark, cloth, and delicate paper.

The government plans to digitize these texts using modern technology and artificial intelligence, integrating them into a national digital repository for easy access by researchers and the public.
Officials have clarified that the ownership of the manuscripts will remain with the current custodians, while the government will handle their scientific digitization and preservation.
Authorities have urged the public to report any similar manuscripts they possess to help safeguard this heritage.
