Rankini Devi Temple: A Renowned Shakti Peeth in Jharkhand Attracting Devotees During Navratri

Jamshedpur, March 16: The Chaitra Navratri holds significant importance in Hinduism. During this festival, temples dedicated to the goddess across the country come alive with vibrant celebrations. This year, the festivities will commence on Thursday, March 19, and continue until March 27.

Chaitra Navratri is one of the largest festivals in India, celebrated over nine days. During this time, devotees worship the nine different forms of Goddess Durga, creating a unique atmosphere of devotion in temples dedicated to the mother goddess.

Among the thousands of temples in the country, the Rankini Devi Temple is located in Rohinibera village of the Bansila Gram Panchayat, near Jamshedpur in Jharkhand. This ancient and active Shakti Peeth is primarily dedicated to Goddess Kali and is also known as the Kapadgadi Ghat Rankini Devi Temple.

The stone idol housed in the Rankini Devi Temple is believed to be an incarnation of Goddess Kali. It is said that Goddess Rankini resides within this stone, which continues to grow in size and radiance over time.

There is a belief surrounding the temple that the stone idol represents the direct manifestation of Goddess Rankini. Historically, travelers passing through dense forests would worship her for safety and well-being. Even today, travelers, drivers, and students seek the blessings of the goddess before continuing their journeys.

The temple’s location near Kapadgadi Ghat makes it easily accessible, especially for the elderly. Throughout the day, particularly during Navratri, the temple grounds are filled with devotees.

The morning and evening aartis held at the temple are particularly captivating, drawing large crowds of worshippers. During Navratri, the temple hosts rituals, adornments, and aartis dedicated to various forms of Goddess Durga for nine consecutive days. Devotees from far and wide flock to the temple to seek the blessings of the divine mother.
