Hyderabad, October 5 (Daily Kiran) : Ramchandra Rao, the president of the BJP’s Telangana unit, has sharply criticized Congress leader Digvijaya Singh’s pilgrimage from Ujjain to Ayodhya. Rao accused Singh of staging the journey merely to instill fear among the public. He suggested that the pilgrimage is a facade, driven by political motives.
Rao stated, “Digvijaya Singh’s march against the RSS is politically motivated. His journey from Ujjain to Ayodhya is nothing but a show intended to spread fear and misinformation about the RSS and BJP.”
He further argued that Singh is attempting to portray the RSS and BJP as communal forces, a claim Rao firmly rejects. “It is the Congress and its allies who have consistently tried to inflame religious sentiments,” he said.
Highlighting historical context, Rao remarked, “During Congress rule, communal riots were rampant. Since the BJP came to power, such clashes have significantly decreased. The truth is that the Congress party promotes communal politics. Their own leaders have claimed, ‘Muslims are Congress, and Congress is Muslims.’ What answer does Digvijaya Singh have to that?”
Rao advised Singh to first address the concerns within his party regarding the use of religion in politics and clarify the party’s stance on treating Muslims as a political vote bank.
On the topic of the SIR controversy, Rao stated, “Asaduddin Owaisi and other leaders should understand that SIR is a process initiated by the Election Commission, not the BJP. This process existed during Congress’s tenure too. They did not protest then, so why now? In Kerala, Congress won after the SIR process, yet they have no explanation for that. Whenever Congress or the ‘India’ alliance loses elections, they blame the Election Commission or EVMs.”
He concluded by asserting that Owaisi and Congress leaders are distressed because the BJP has been in power for over a decade and is likely to remain in power, as public trust in the ‘India’ alliance and Congress has eroded. Rao accused them of attempting to create a false narrative.
Rao emphasized that the opposition is misleading the public regarding the SIR process, which involves removing names of deceased voters and duplicates, and shifting voters’ registrations. He insisted that there is nothing illegal about this process that warrants objection.
