Ram Gopal Varma to Begin Shooting Sarkar 4 Next Month at Red Lorry Film Festival

Mumbai, March 13: Renowned Indian filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma is set to return to the big screen with the next installment of his popular political crime franchise, ‘Sarkar.’ He announced that filming for ‘Sarkar 4’ will commence next month during a media interaction at the Red Lorry Film Festival held in Mumbai.

The ‘Sarkar’ franchise has garnered significant popularity among audiences, with previous installments receiving much acclaim. The announcement of ‘Sarkar 4’ has sparked renewed excitement among fans. During the event, Varma also shared insights from his past experiences and discussed the film.

Varma attended the festival for a special screening of his acclaimed film ‘Shiva.’ While revisiting this classic, he reminisced about the memories associated with its production. He revealed, “I was inspired by several international filmmakers while making this film, particularly the filmmaking style of renowned Hollywood director Steven Spielberg.”

He added, “Some scenes and camera shots in ‘Shiva’ were directly influenced by Spielberg’s style. His use of the camera has always fascinated me, and I incorporated some shots in a similar manner. Currently, in addition to ‘Sarkar 4,’ I am also working on another film titled ‘Syndicate.’ I hope these projects resonate well with audiences.”

When asked about recent films and filmmakers, Varma expressed his admiration for the recently released film ‘Dhurandhar’ and mentioned Aditya Dhar as a notable name among the new generation of filmmakers.

It is worth noting that the ‘Sarkar’ series features Amitabh Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan in lead roles. The franchise is based on the socio-political backdrop of Maharashtra. The first installment, ‘Sarkar,’ was released in 2005, followed by ‘Sarkar Raj’ in 2008 and ‘Sarkar 3’ in 2017. Alongside Amitabh and Abhishek, the franchise has included stars like Manoj Bajpayee, KK Menon, Katrina Kaif, Amit Sadh, Yami Gautam, and Supriya Pathak.
