Rajgarh, March 14: The Collector and District Magistrate of Rajgarh, Dr. Girish Kumar Mishra, has issued a prohibitory order under Section 163 of the Indian Citizen Safety Code 2023. This order aims to prevent the spread of misleading information regarding the supply of essential goods and services, particularly LPG cylinders, and to ensure consumers receive accurate information.
According to the order, all LPG gas distributors operating in Rajgarh district are instructed to prominently display daily stock and pricing information outside their gas warehouses or agency premises. Additionally, distributors must ensure the dissemination of accurate information by placing stickers and banners on gas distribution vehicles.
The order also mandates that each gas distributor must issue a toll-free number for consumer complaints, prominently display it, and maintain a formal register of received complaints. Furthermore, gas refilling will not be charged above the stipulated rates.
Collector Dr. Mishra has directed all gas agencies to provide distribution-related information to the concerned Sub-Divisional Officer (Revenue) weekly. Non-compliance will result in necessary actions under the Liquefied Petroleum Gas (Regulation of Supply and Distribution) Order 2000.
Moreover, individuals, organizations, or groups are prohibited from posting or sharing misleading or incorrect information regarding the supply of essential goods and services on social media or other electronic platforms. Violators will face legal action under Section 223 of the Indian Penal Code 2023 and other relevant legal provisions.
It is noteworthy that following a rise in LPG prices, complaints of shortages and black marketing have emerged in various regions of India. However, the government asserts that there is sufficient LPG available. Despite this, the growing rumors have led to long queues at gas agencies, and instances of black marketing have been reported. To manage the situation, the Rajgarh Collector has implemented this prohibitory order.
