Chennai: The Tamil Nadu government has announced the State Film Awards for 2016 to 2022 and the State Television Awards for 2014 to 2022. The list recognises performances ranging from heartfelt acting to blockbuster hits.
Among the awardees is Radhika Sarathkumar, who played the character Chandon in the film Nasib Apna Apna alongside Rishi Kapoor. She shared her happiness about receiving the award on social media. Radhika was honoured with the Best Actress title for the 2014 State Television Awards.
Radhika Sarathkumar has acted in over 50 Tamil and Telugu films. She played a second lead role in the 1986 film Nasib Apna Apna with Rishi Kapoor and Farah Naaz. Her innocence and charm won the hearts of the audience. Even today, she remains active in the industry and is working on solo projects.
Currently, Radhika is in the spotlight for her latest Tamil comedy-drama Thai Kizhavi. Her appearance in the film is noticeably different from her previous roles. Known for rarely performing comedic roles, this film has generated high expectations from the makers. Notably, at 64 years of age, Radhika is leading a solo film without involving any major co-actors. The comedy-filled movie is scheduled for release on February 20, with only the teaser released so far.
Besides Radhika Sarathkumar, the list of winners from 2016 to 2022 includes prominent actresses such as Keerthy Suresh for Pambu Sattai (2016), Nayanthara for Aramm (2017), Jyothika for Chekka Chivantha Vaanam (2018), Manju Warrier for Asuran (2019), and Aparna Balamurali for Sorarai Pottru. The list of actors honoured also features major South Indian stars like Vijay Sethupathi, Karthi, and Dhanush.
