New Chandigarh, 11 December: South Africa secured a commanding 51-run victory over India in the second T20 match played at Mullapur. Quinton de Kock was awarded the ‘Player of the Match’ for his explosive innings, scoring 90 runs off 46 balls, including 7 sixes and 5 fours.
After the match, the left-handed batsman shared his thoughts on the turning point of the game for India. “The situation changed when the Indian team came out to bat. The pitch gained pace and the ball started moving faster. When we were batting, the ball was slower and movement was minimal. That was the biggest difference between the two innings,” he explained.
Reflecting on his own performance, de Kock said, “I don’t really know what was happening; it just happened. Maybe that’s why when I get set at the crease, I try to make the most of it. I believe this is because we play against each other very often and usually on good pitches, especially in India.”
Quinton de Kock built a solid partnership of 83 runs in 47 balls for the second wicket with Aiden Markram. He commented on the partnership, saying, “I felt the pitch was a bit slow at the start, and the ball was taking time to reach the bat. It was tough for the new batsman to settle in. The ball didn’t seem wet; it felt dry. So it was mainly about Markram and me hanging in there because it was not going to be easy for the newcomers.”
South Africa posted a total of 213 runs for 4 wickets after batting first. In response, the Indian team was bundled out for 162 runs in 19.1 overs.
