Put districts in NCR on alert mode: Yogi

Lucknow, April 16 : Following a spike in Covid cases in Gautam Buddha Nagar and Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday directed that districts in the National Capital Region (NCR) should be kept on alert mode. During a meeting to review the corona situation in the state, Yogi said, “Increase in corona cases has been witnessed in bordering districts of the state in the past few days. The NCR region has been affected by it. 70 patients have been tested positive in Gautam Buddha Nagar and 11 in Ghaziabad. Keeping in view the current situation all districts in the NCR region should be kept on alert mode.” He directed that genome sequencing of samples of patients, who have tested positive in GB Nagar and Ghaziabad should be done. “A thorough review should be done by interacting with the district magistrates and chief medical officers of these districts,” he said. The CM said that currently there are 507 active cases in the state. “More than 73,000 tests were conducted in the last 24 hours in which 106 new patients have tested positive and 37 patients have been cured during this period. We should maintain caution and remain vigilant,” he said. He said that the important vaccination programme is running successfully. “With 30.56 crore vaccines so far, both the doses have been administered to 86 per cent people. Progress of vaccination in the age group of 12 years to 14 years and 15 to 17 is satisfactory and it should be accelerated,” the CM said. Yogi said that the work of administering booster doses to the 18 plus population should be accelerated. “Booster dose could be taken at 700 private vaccination centers. People should be made aware about the importance of booster dose and these vaccination centers,” he said. AB GK
