
Chandigarh, April 28: The Punjab government has announced a special assembly session on May 1, coinciding with Labor Day. Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann shared this news on social media platform ‘X’.
In his post, CM Mann stated that the Punjab Cabinet made a significant decision on Tuesday to convene this special session. The one-day session will honor the hardworking laborers and artisans who play a crucial role in the nation’s social and economic development.
He mentioned that representatives from labor unions will be invited as special guests to the assembly. The session will focus on serious discussions regarding national and international challenges, including the impact of changes in the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) on the labor class.
Additionally, CM Mann noted that during the session, other essential legislative matters will be addressed as per the procedures set by the assembly’s business advisory committee. This aims to facilitate necessary decisions for the state’s development and strengthen democracy.
Just a day prior, CM Mann posted about a significant meeting in Chandigarh attended by Water Resources Minister Barinder Kumar Goyal, Cabinet Minister Harjot Singh Bains, and MP Malvinder Kang, along with senior officials. They discussed implementing a master plan for flood prevention across the state during the upcoming monsoon and making extensive arrangements for it.
He further emphasized that officials were given strict instructions to complete all safety measures in a timely manner to prevent potential damage. The Punjab government is fully prepared and committed to ensuring the safety of its citizens.
