Prime Ministers Safe Motherhood Campaign Transforms Healthcare for Pregnant Women in Burhanpur

Burhanpur, April 14: The ‘Prime Minister’s Safe Motherhood’ campaign has become a blessing for pregnant women in Burhanpur, Madhya Pradesh. A free health check-up camp was organized at the district hospital, attracting nearly 50 pregnant women from the district and nearby rural areas. According to hospital administration, 14 women were identified as high-risk pregnancies and are now receiving special monitoring and counseling.

Women expressed their gratitude, stating that if they had undergone these tests at private hospitals, it would have cost them thousands of rupees. Thanks to Prime Minister Modi’s initiative, they received essential tests, sonography, blood tests, and medical consultations at no charge. They emphasized that this program provides significant relief to poor and rural women.

Beneficiary Vaishali Bhalekar shared her experience, saying, “The ‘Prime Minister’s Safe Motherhood’ scheme has greatly benefited me. I received my check-up safely, and the doctors took great care of me. I did not spend a single penny here, and that was only possible because of this scheme.”

Another woman, Nandini, who came for a health check-up, stated, “I had a free check-up under the scheme. The hospital offers free treatment. I want to thank Prime Minister Modi.”

The hospital management highlighted that the campaign aims to ensure safe motherhood and timely identification and treatment of complicated cases.

Gynecologist Dr. Sarita Golkar explained that the ‘Prime Minister’s Safe Motherhood’ campaign conducts both physical and mental health check-ups for pregnant women. If any issues arise during the tests, appropriate treatment is provided. They also offer guidance on nutrition for pregnant women.

Seema David, the district coordinator for the campaign, noted that the campaign is observed on the 9th and 25th of every month at all district hospitals, community health centers, and primary health centers.

She further explained that the primary goal is to reduce maternal and infant mortality rates while promoting safe motherhood. This includes four prenatal health check-ups and mental health assessments, along with educating families about their roles in the process. Beneficiaries are also informed about the benefits they will receive under the scheme.
