New Delhi, August 15: On the occasion of the 80th Independence Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi outlined a comprehensive vision for making India a developed nation by 2047. His address emphasized self-reliance, global competitiveness, and the promotion of manufacturing, technology, and innovation. He also highlighted the importance of strengthening energy and national security, empowering youth and women, and accelerating the nation’s development journey through the ‘Seven Streams of Power.’
In his speech, PM Modi reflected on the significance of the day, stating, “Today, we celebrate our 80th Independence Day. The spirit of ‘Vande Mataram’ resonates in every heart. Every home and mind is filled with the tricolor, and the nation is moving forward with renewed resolve.” He paid tribute to the great heroes who sacrificed their lives for India’s freedom, including Mahatma Gandhi and other freedom fighters.
Modi noted that the first rendition of ‘Vande Mataram’ at the Red Fort occurred on August 15, and this year marks 150 years of the anthem. He expressed solidarity with families affected by recent floods and landslides, assuring them that the nation stands with them in their time of need.
He emphasized that a nation becomes great when it achieves its aspirations through its dreams, resolutions, and capabilities. “Our resolutions must be high because when dreams are lofty, our capabilities and efforts also rise,” he stated. Modi envisions a developed India by 2047, a goal that reflects the collective strength of 1.4 billion citizens.
The Prime Minister acknowledged the efforts of citizens over the past 12 years, stating that people from all walks of life have worked together to elevate the nation. He highlighted that 25 million citizens have risen above poverty, transforming India from being labeled as one of the ‘Fragile Five’ to one of the fastest-growing major economies.
In terms of achievements, Modi reported that defense production has quadrupled, khadi and village industries have increased fivefold, and electronic manufacturing has surged sevenfold. He also noted significant growth in modern railway coach production and mobile phone manufacturing.
The Prime Minister pointed out the advancements in governance, including the elimination of numerous compliance requirements and outdated laws. He stressed the importance of modern infrastructure, public transport, and the rapid pace of development seen in the last decade.
Modi reiterated the commitment to self-reliance, stating that initiatives like ‘Make in India’ and ‘Vocal for Local’ are resonating with every Indian. He emphasized the critical role of semiconductors in today’s digital world, announcing the establishment of several semiconductor plants to bolster India’s self-reliance.
He concluded by urging citizens to prepare for the future, with plans for more semiconductor plants and a focus on energy security, which is vital for the nation’s progress.
