New Delhi, August 12: Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled the autobiography of former President Ram Nath Kovind on Wednesday at Vigyan Bhawan in Delhi. The book is titled “Triumph of the Indian Republic: My Life, My Struggles.”
The event was attended by Prime Minister Modi, former President Kovind, and Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, along with a large audience.
Speaker Om Birla addressed the attendees, stating, “Ram Nath Kovind was born into a humble family. He faced numerous challenges in his early life, including long journeys to school. Despite these obstacles, his determination never wavered. This book is a testament to that extraordinary resolve, serving as an inspiration for all of us.”
Former President Ram Nath Kovind expressed his gratitude, saying, “Today is a special occasion for me as we discuss my personal life. I thank everyone for joining the launch of my autobiography ‘Triumph of the Indian Republic: My Life, My Struggles.'”
Kovind praised Prime Minister Modi, recalling their early interactions during his active years in the party. He noted, “What impressed me most was his vision, commitment to development, and ability to connect with grassroots workers.”
He highlighted Modi’s clarity and firmness on governance and development issues, recognizing a unique blend of organizational efficiency and visionary thinking in him.
Kovind also shared, “My political journey began with the BJP for a reason. This party embodies the principle of ‘Nation First,’ rising above social distortions like dynastic politics, casteism, and regionalism to focus on inclusive national development.”
The autobiography provides insights into the values, experiences, and circumstances that shaped his journey and public service. Before the book launch, Prime Minister Modi wrote on social media platform X, “This is the autobiography of former President Ram Nath Kovind. It narrates his inspiring life and efforts in serving society.”
Notably, Ram Nath Kovind served as the President of India from 2017 to 2022. Before his presidency, he was the Governor of Bihar from 2015 to 2017 and served two consecutive terms as a Rajya Sabha member from Uttar Pradesh.
He was the first individual from Uttar Pradesh and the BJP to hold the highest constitutional office in the country. Born on October 1, 1945, in the village of Paraukh in Kanpur Dehat district, he hailed from a Koli family. He joined the BJP in 1991 and later served as the head of the party’s Dalit Morcha and the All India Koli Society between 1998 and 2002.
