Presidential candidate Premadasa not signed pact with any politial party:  Sri Lanka PM

Addressing an election meeting in Tamil-majority northern province last evening, he said a future government of  Premadasa will only devolve power as it is stated in his election manifesto and that there is nothing to hide. 

His statement came as one of the main Tamil party Ilankai Tamil Arasu Katchi (ITAK) announced its decision to support Premadasa at elections scheduled for 16th of this month. 

The opposition led by Gotabaya Rajapaksa has alleged that there is some secret agreement between Tamil parties and Premadasa. 

The prime minister said their government could not enact a new constitution because they did not have a majority and called upon people to give a sufficient mandate to the parties which is in favour of a new constitution at the next general election. 

Meanwhile,  Sajith Premadasa said the lands which belong to the individuals in the North will be handed over to them within the first two years of his government. 

He said the government had already begun work on a special rehabilitation hospital in the North for the benefit of those who have become differently-abled as a result of the war.
