President Murmu to Attend Nalanda University’s Second Convocation Ceremony

Rajgir, March 28: Nalanda University is set to host its second convocation ceremony on March 31 at its permanent campus in Rajgir. President Draupadi Murmu, who is also the visitor of Nalanda University, will be the chief guest at the event.

Extensive preparations are underway for the ceremony. A key highlight will be the ‘Participation Exhibition’ organized under the ‘Participatory Dialogue’ initiative. This exhibition will significantly reflect the university’s commitment to dialogue, inclusivity, and participatory development.

The exhibition will showcase various thematic stalls, emphasizing Nalanda University’s deep and vibrant connection with surrounding villages. It will ensure active participation from women, farmers, teachers, students, and other community members.

Handmade products, visual documentation of positive changes in livelihoods, and research findings from faculty and students will be presented. Additionally, students will showcase their work on cultural mapping of nearby villages.

Students will also present the traditional ‘Ahar-Pain’ water management system, which has inspired sustainable water conservation practices in the university’s net-zero campus. This visit marks President Murmu’s first trip to Rajgir and Nalanda University in her capacity as President.

During the ceremony, she will deliver the convocation address, confer degrees, and award gold medals to outstanding students. She will also inaugurate the newly constructed 2000-seat auditorium, “Vishwamitraalay.” All graduates from postgraduate and doctoral programs have been invited to receive their degrees in person. These students represent various countries, including Argentina, Vietnam, Bhutan, Indonesia, Kenya, Laos, Myanmar, Serbia, Ghana, Thailand, Nepal, Bangladesh, and Zimbabwe. A total of 10 PhDs and 36 gold medals will be awarded at this convocation.
