Prasidh Krishna Withdraws from New Zealand ODI Series Due to Injury

Fast bowler Prasidh Krishna is out of the ODI series against New Zealand due to a hamstring injury, with updates on team changes.

Mumbai, October 30 (Daily Kiran) : Prasidh Krishna, the right-arm fast bowler, will miss the upcoming ODI series against New Zealand starting on November 4 due to a hamstring injury. He sustained this injury during the ODI against the West Indies in Guwahati. His participation in the series was contingent on passing a fitness test.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced that Krishna will join the India ‘A’ team for the final four-day match against New Zealand ‘A’. However, his availability will depend on his fitness levels.

In a statement, the board noted, “The right-arm pacer, recovering from a hamstring injury, will require additional time to prepare for the matches. Prasidh will be part of the India ‘A’ team for the third and final four-day match against New Zealand ‘A’, provided he clears the Return to Play (RTP) assessment. This will give him the opportunity for match practice and preparation for the two-Test series.”

All-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy, initially selected for the entire ODI series, will now participate only in the first ODI before joining the ‘A’ team for the third unofficial Test starting on November 6.

The board confirmed, “Nitish Kumar Reddy will be available for the first ODI against New Zealand on November 4. After that, he will join the India ‘A’ team for the third and final four-day match against New Zealand ‘A’.” This decision allows him to gain match practice ahead of the Test series against New Zealand starting November 19.

Fast bowler Mohammed Siraj will join the India ‘A’ team for the second four-day match against New Zealand ‘A’, commencing October 31 at Hagley Oval in Christchurch.

The updated India ‘A’ squad for the second four-day match against New Zealand ‘A’ includes: Yashasvi Jaiswal, Sai Sudharsan, Devdutt Padikkal, Yash Rathod, R. Smaran, Dhruv Jurel (captain/wicketkeeper), Washington Sundar, Mohammed Siraj, Akash Deep, Shikhar Mohan, Mukesh Chaudhary, Mukesh Kumar, Manav Suthar, and Kumar Kushagra (wicketkeeper).

The updated Indian team for the first three ODIs consists of: Shubman Gill (captain), Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer (vice-captain), KL Rahul (wicketkeeper), Axar Patel, Naman Dheer, Anshul Kamboj, Gurnoor Barar, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Arshdeep Singh, Ishan Kishan (wicketkeeper), Mohammed Siraj, Kuldeep Yadav, and Nitish Kumar Reddy (only for the first ODI).

For the fourth and fifth ODIs, the Indian team will feature: Shreyas Iyer (captain), Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Tilak Varma, Ishan Kishan (wicketkeeper/vice-captain), Axar Patel, Naman Dheer, Aakib Nabi, Gurnoor Barar, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Arshdeep Singh, Kumar Kushagra (wicketkeeper), Mohammed Siraj, Yash Thakur, and Kuldeep Yadav.
