Panaji, March 18 : Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Friday said that caretaker Chief Minister Pramod Sawant will be leading the state once again and the party will give a stable government to the people. ”Dr Pramod Sawant will lead the government again. The BJP will provide a stable government under his leadership for the next five years,” BJP Goa spokesperson and MLA Subhash Phaldesai said, addressing a press conference in the city. ”Within 4 to five days we will be able to form our own government. There is no doubt about that. Speculations will be there as we have an absolute majority. We are ted. Our MLAs have not been put in resort,” he said. ”BJP is a national party, party leaders take a decision and we abide by that. Senior leaders of the party will take an appropriate decision. Right now Dr Sawant’s name has been declared by the Prime Minister. So there is no doubt about forming the government and who is going to be the leader,” he said. Criticising Congress he said the opposition party was demanding BJP to form a government soon as it does not trust its MLAs. He claimed that vote share of BJP had increased by 1 per cent while vote share of Congress had decreased. The Congress had failed to convince the people and that was the reason that it lost and its President Sonia Gandhi had to ask the state presidents of 5 states to resign. Phaldesai also claimed that the party would win both seats in the state in the next Lok Sabha elections due to be held in 2024. The BJP, in spite of winning 20 seats and having support of 3 independent MLAs and Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP) which has two MLAs, has been unable to form a government yet. Recently Chief Minister Pramod Sawant visited New Delhi where he met Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP National President J P Nadda and on Home Minister Amit Shah, among others. The legislature party of BJP is yet to meet. Although the party has announced two on ministers as central observers. Tenure of Goa Legislative Assembly ended on March 16, 2022. Dr Pramod Sawant has been appointed as caretaker chief minister till an arrangement is made. AKM SHK2113
