Positive Talks on Trade Future Between Canada and U.S. with Trump, Says Carney
Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney reports fruitful discussions with President Trump on trade relations between Canada and the U.S.

New Delhi, November 1 (Daily Kiran) : Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney announced on November 1 that discussions with U.S. President Donald Trump regarding the future of trade between Canada and the United States were productive. Carney shared this update via a post on the social media platform X, stating, “I had a good conversation with President Donald Trump about the future of trade between Canada and the U.S. This advances our recent positive discussions on a comprehensive trade agreement that would benefit both countries.”
He emphasized that such an agreement would create new jobs for workers, make living costs more affordable for families, and fully respect Canada’s languages, culture, and sovereignty. Carney also noted that teams from both nations would collaborate in the coming weeks to achieve these goals.
Earlier, on Friday, Carney had highlighted Canada’s evolving relationship with the European Union, indicating progress toward a deeper partnership that could position Canada as the EU’s first associate member. This arrangement would fall short of full membership but would open avenues for extensive economic, trade, technological, and defense cooperation between Canada and the EU.
