Political Turmoil Erupts Over Jharkhand Incident in Parliament

New Delhi, August 11: A political storm erupted in Parliament on Tuesday regarding police action against students during the ‘Vidhan Sabha Gherao’ in Jharkhand. NDA MPs targeted Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, demanding a response to the incident.

BJP MP Ujjwal Nikam spoke to a news agency, accusing the opposition of disrupting parliamentary proceedings for the past two weeks. He noted that neither the Lok Sabha nor the Rajya Sabha could discuss essential issues. Nikam emphasized that debate is vital for democracy, and the Congress party’s obstruction of the house’s functioning is shameful.

He further stated that the opposition is avoiding discussions on the student beatings in Jharkhand and insisted that Rahul Gandhi should address this matter.

BJP MP Tarun Chugh accused Rahul Gandhi of adopting a ‘double standard.’ He claimed that Gandhi is evading the issue of police brutality against students and is also absent from the house. According to Chugh, the nation is witnessing Gandhi’s inconsistent stance, and he must respond to this issue in Parliament.

Kangana Ranaut, another BJP MP, raised questions about the Congress party regarding the Jharkhand incident. She alleged that violence against students is occurring in Jharkhand and that Rahul Gandhi should be questioned about it. Ranaut claimed that Gandhi is refusing to engage in discussions. Although the opposition previously demanded discussions on other protests, they did not accept the opportunity when it arose. She accused the opposition of betraying the nation and Parliament.

BJP MP Arun Singh targeted Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi, stating that the Congress government is in Jharkhand, where students have been brutally beaten. He questioned why they have not visited Jharkhand, alleging that Congress leaders are avoiding the issue and should witness the situation firsthand.

Shiv Sena MP Shrikant Shinde also criticized the opposition, stating that the government and the Union Home Minister are ready to discuss issues related to the student protests in Jharkhand in Parliament. However, he accused the opposition of not wanting to engage in discussions on this matter.
