Priyanka Kakkar Leaves AAP for Congress, Criticizes Party Leadership

Priyanka Kakkar resigns from AAP, joins Congress, citing disillusionment with party leadership and a desire for a cleaner Delhi.

New Delhi, October 3 (Daily Kiran) : Priyanka Kakkar, a prominent spokesperson for the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), made headlines on Saturday when she announced her departure from the party to join the Congress. The announcement took place during a press conference in New Delhi, marking a significant shift in the political landscape of the capital.

Kakkar expressed her reasons for leaving AAP, stating, “I want the old Green Delhi back, the one I grew up in. I want a clean and progressive Delhi. After observing the capital for decades, I am confident that only the Congress party can achieve this.”

During her remarks, she praised Rahul Gandhi, asserting, “In today’s politics, if there is a leader who speaks the truth, it is Rahul Gandhi. He is the only leader who hasn’t shed tears for the camera. Despite efforts to undermine him, he has not given up. The Congress party has a spirit that seems to be missing in other parties.”

Kakkar also criticized AAP’s leadership, revealing, “I left AAP because it was initially promised that we would not accept government bungalows or vehicles, yet leaders began using helicopters for travel. I cannot defend this for long.”

She further noted that while AAP had attracted many intelligent individuals at one time, it failed to retain them. “New members who haven’t even worked at the booth level are being given high positions, bungalows, and vehicles in Punjab, all while coming from Rajasthan. How can I defend this?” she questioned.

Kakkar supported Rahul Gandhi’s campaign against alleged electoral fraud, stating, “Rahul Gandhi has consistently raised concerns about Gyanesh Kumar’s actions. We must inform the public about how our voting rights are being compromised and stop this from happening. Everyone should unite with Congress and Rahul Gandhi.”

Her transition to Congress is seen as a significant political shift in Delhi, as Kakkar has long been a vocal advocate for AAP in television debates.
