North 24 Parganas, September 14 (Daily Kiran) : A police sub-inspector was discovered dead in his barrack at the Habra police station in North 24 Parganas on September 14. The deceased has been identified as Vishwanath Sen, who was stationed at the Habra police station and hailed from the Maheshtala area of South 24 Parganas.
Authorities reported that Sen was on duty the previous night and exhibited no signs of distress. However, on Monday morning, his colleagues found his body hanging in his assigned room after knocking for an extended period without receiving a response. Concerned, they forced the door open and discovered him suspended from the ceiling. He was immediately brought down and rushed to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
District police officials have indicated that initial investigations suggest the incident may be a case of suicide. The body has been sent for an autopsy, and the official cause of death will be determined once the detailed report is available.
The family of the deceased officer has been notified. A colleague mentioned that, even if it were a suicide, there are no clues as to what might have prompted such a drastic action. He noted that Sen had not shared any personal or professional troubles and appeared calm during his shift on Monday night.
