New Delhi, May 21: The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations has awarded Prime Minister Narendra Modi its highest honor, the Agricola Medal. This recognition has sparked joy across the nation. SP Sharma, Chief Economist of the industry organization ASSOCHAM, hailed it as a significant achievement for India and its agricultural sector.

In a conversation with a news agency, Sharma expressed pride in the FAO’s decision to honor PM Modi with the Agricola Medal. He noted that the substantial changes in India’s agricultural sector are now being recognized globally. The efforts made by India in promoting food security, nutritional safety, and organic farming are receiving international acclaim.

Sharma further stated that this prestigious award will enhance India’s global standing. He emphasized that this recognition is not just for PM Modi but for the entire nation and the Indian agricultural system. The impact of government-implemented agricultural policies and reforms is becoming increasingly evident, establishing India as a formidable player in the global agricultural market.

He highlighted that in recent years, the government has made several significant decisions to strengthen the agricultural sector. The effects of these policies are visible in both the economy and agricultural development. The government’s focus has been on increasing farmers’ incomes, adopting modern technology, and improving the quality of agricultural products.

Earlier, Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan remarked on PM Modi’s recognition by the FAO, stating that the Prime Minister has received numerous prestigious awards from various countries, solidifying his status as one of the world’s most respected leaders.

Chouhan noted that the FAO’s highest honor was awarded due to the steps taken to ensure food security. He emphasized that PM Modi’s concern extends beyond India, addressing global food security issues. This award also acknowledges the Prime Minister’s efforts to enhance agricultural production, quality, and research on an international level.
