PM Modi Criticizes Congress and DMK During Puducherry Rally

Mumbai, March 1: Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a scathing attack on the Congress party and the ruling DMK during a public rally in Puducherry on Sunday. He stated that both parties had become speed bumps in the region’s development journey. It is now essential to celebrate the achievements of the double-engine government.

During the event, PM Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation for projects worth over ₹2,700 crores. He emphasized that the central government is focusing on both urban and rural infrastructure development to ensure inclusive progress.

Targeting the DMK and Congress, PM Modi remarked, “While it’s important to celebrate the good work done by the double-engine government, it is equally vital to remember the past conditions. The people of Puducherry suffered greatly under Congress and DMK rule. Their years were filled with political instability, corruption, crime, and the suffering of the poor. There were no rice supplies in ration shops, salaries were delayed, and goons and drug mafias ruled the streets.”

He further stated, “Congress turned Puducherry into an ATM for a family sitting in Delhi. When it comes to the DMK, one can see a long list of scams happening in Tamil Nadu. Congress and DMK became speed bumps in Puducherry’s development journey. Now, those same forces are hungry for power again. Should Puducherry return to that era of corruption and crime? I am confident that the people of Puducherry do not want that.”

Meanwhile, PM Modi highlighted tourism as a strength for Puducherry, noting, “As a weekend destination, it already attracts thousands of visitors. Trains and flights are always full, thanks to the love of the people of Puducherry. With investments in spiritual tourism, eco-tourism, and health tourism, we are reaching new heights.”

Focusing on healthcare, PM Modi stated that a nation can only progress when its human resources are healthy. He said, “Healthcare is our priority. It should be accessible, available, and affordable for all.” He also mentioned that no citizen of Puducherry should be forced to travel long distances for medical treatment.

PM Modi expressed that Puducherry could become a hub for medical tourism, noting that there are already nine medical colleges in the region.
