PM Modi Celebrates National Technology Day, Honors Scientists Contributions

New Delhi, May 11: Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended warm wishes to the nation on National Technology Day. He acknowledged the hard work and dedication of scientists, stating that they are the true architects of the country’s pride and self-respect.

In a post on the social media platform ‘X’, PM Modi wrote, “Happy National Technology Day. We proudly remember the hard work and dedication of our scientists, which led to the successful tests in Pokhran in 1998. That historic moment symbolized India’s scientific excellence and unwavering commitment.”

He further emphasized that technology has become a cornerstone in building an ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ (self-reliant India). It is driving innovation, expanding opportunities, and contributing to the nation’s development across various sectors. Our continuous focus is on empowering talent, encouraging research, and creating solutions that fulfill both the nation’s progress and the aspirations of our people.

In another post, PM Modi reflected on the nuclear tests conducted in Pokhran on this day in 1998, stating, “The tests introduced the world to India’s remarkable capabilities. Our scientists are the true architects of the country’s pride and self-respect.”

On this occasion, the Prime Minister also shared a verse from ‘Sanskriti Subhashitam’, stating, “Agni mūrdhā divaḥ kakutpatiḥ pṛthivyā ayām. Apāṁ retāṁsi jinvati.” This translates to, “Fire is the supreme power of the celestial realm and the source of all energy on Earth. It awakens the infinite power contained in the smallest particles of matter and energizes all creation.”

National Technology Day commemorates significant events from May 11, 1998, when India conducted successful nuclear tests under Operation Shakti and witnessed the maiden flight of the indigenously developed Hansa-3 aircraft. In honor of these achievements, then-Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee declared May 11 as National Technology Day. Since then, every year on this date, the nation celebrates its technological advancements.
