New Delhi, May 19: Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal stated on Tuesday that the India-Sweden partnership reflects a shared belief that collaboration among governments, industries, innovators, and financial institutions can drive industrial transformation.
In a post on the social media platform ‘X’, Goyal mentioned that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson have co-authored a significant article outlining the shared vision of both nations regarding sustainable development, clean energy, and innovation-driven progress.
Titled “India and Sweden: Achieving Development, Resilience, and Sustainability Together,” the article highlights that the world is currently facing major challenges such as geopolitical uncertainty, energy insecurity, and economic division. In this context, countries have two options: either to confine themselves to limited national interests or to strengthen global cooperation that ensures development, stability, and a sustainable future.
The article also emphasizes that on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the United Nations, the importance of international cooperation and multilateralism has become more evident. Additionally, there is a growing need for reforms in global institutions to align them with current global conditions.
Furthermore, the article points out that climate change is one of the biggest challenges facing the world today, impacting the economies and societies of all countries, including India and Sweden. However, climate action cannot be separated from developmental needs.
It states that billions of people worldwide aspire for a better standard of living, employment, modern infrastructure, and access to energy. Therefore, balancing development with environmental protection has become a critical economic and political necessity today.
Earlier, Minister Piyush Goyal also shared that he met with Delhi’s Lieutenant Governor, Vinai Kumar Saxena, to discuss several key issues related to the development of the capital. He emphasized that strengthening infrastructure and making life easier for citizens is a priority for the government’s continuous development efforts.
